EXCLUSIVE ACCESS FOR EVERY BOOKED COUPLE
Picture this: dramatic views, 300′ towering sandstone rock formations, the changing of the leaves, and a backdrop of bright blue skies and snow capped mountains. Having your elopement at Garden of the Gods in Colorado offers all that and more.
I absolutely love Garden of the Gods; It’s one of my favorite places in Colorado for an elopement. You’re not far from a city center and it’s an easily accessible area.
I loved my time spent out in Garden of the Gods with Candace and Zack because they truly brought themselves to the table and showed up that day. It really means so much to bring out who you are in your photos because that’s what really makes them unique to you, and not just another photoshoot. After all, that’s never what this is — instead, it’s meant to be a celebration of who you two are and your images should depict just that. We spent the day exploring the park, hiking up trails and laughing all the way. It was such an intimate and playful celebration of their love that day and getting to witness that is literally one of the best parts of my job.
Do you happen to know how the park got its name?
According to the park’s website, it was August of 1859 when two surveyors started out from Denver City to begin a townsite, soon to be called Colorado City. While exploring nearby locations, they came upon a beautiful area of sandstone formations. M. S. Beach, who related this incident, suggested that it would be a “capital place for a beer garden” when the country grew up. His companion, Rufus Cable, a “young and poetic man”, exclaimed, “Beer Garden! Why it is a fit place for the Gods to assemble. We will call it the Garden of the Gods.” It has been so called ever since.
Gosh, who else is feeling a beer now?
